BowTie Training - 11/06/2024

Infinity Systems Engineering LTD give all employees the opportunity to create and deliver training courses based on their experience and expertise in particular fields, giving them the opportunity to develop their Continuous Personal Development (CPD) record. Julian recently delivered an engaging presentation on BowTies to colleagues at ISE and offered the following remarks:

“My Name is Julian Stephens, and I have been employed at Infinity Systems Engineering LTD for just over 2 months. During this time, I have developed a BowTie Training Course and delivered it to seven ISE employees, including a senior engineer, in order to upskill them on future work involving BowTie tasks and to contribute to my CPD record.

The presentation utilised a variety of images, animations and clear examples to define what a BowTie is and to increase the team's understanding of BowTies in an engaging manner. I covered Reasons' Swiss cheese model, the fundamental definitions and taxonomy, as well as a fully worked example for Driving a Car, demonstrating how to construct this example in the program BowTieXP. 

This presentation has been designed to be a standalone resource, so that anyone who is unsure on how to use BowTieXP can learn from this presentation and further their understanding on how and why BowTies are a great way to create a risk picture.

The feedback I received was overwhelmingly positive, with a rating of 4.67 out of 5, accompanied by suggestions for how I can enhance the presentation in the future.”
